Base fee:
  • All Speed Judges need to be WJRF certified with at least one year experience. Wear black pants and a black top with no logos. Waiver and Release of Liability are required. There is NO registration fee.

California Open

Welcome ALL!   Coronado Speed Spinners is hosting the first annual Southern California Open on February 23-24, 2019. This event will be set up for individual or team jumpers.  Participants will have the opportunity to enter each event one time.   

All competitors, judges, and volunteers need to register.  There is no fee for judges and volunteers.  Admission is FREE for spectators.

Athletes/Judges:  Sign up here on Wild Apricot.  Early registration receives a $10 discount towards registration.  AMJRF Members receive a $10 discount toward registration.  Early registration and AMJRF Members receive a total of a $20 discount.  Athletes are encouraged to forward a copy of their registration receipt to their Coach of Record.

Coaches/Team Managers:  Register competition entries via WJRF Registration service will be opened after January 1, 2019.  We will use pre-printed competition sheets for the heat style competition format.   

Competition Event Registration (Coaches ONLY)

PAYMENT:  Payment can be completed by the athlete, parent, coach, or teacher.  Choose the option that works best for your team.  Early payments must be made by January 20, 2019.  Late payments must be made by February 3, 2019.

1.  Individual Payment - Athletes, judges, and instructors may make their registration payment during the online registration by credit card.

2.  Team Payment - Coaches or schools may choose to make one payment by credit card after the Coach of Record has completed the registration process for all team members as guests.  


EVENT LOCATION:  Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way, Coronado, CA 92118

EVENT CHECK IN:  Doors open at 9:30 am.  No early entry will be allowed.  Please enter at the side doors.  Parking located in front of the building and on side streets. Coach of Record for teams will pick up the Coach's Packet, event shirts, and competition sheets.

COACHES/VOLUNTEERS MEETING:  Meeting begins at 9:45 am. Participants must wear their name tags during the event.  All teams are required to have one coach (Coach of Record) represented at the coaches meeting in order to compete. All teams are required to have one judge for every 4 jumpers that the team enters into the competition.  Single competitors do not need to supply a judge.  If you do not have enough judges, plan to provide individuals to help as “pushers" (station organizers) or “tabulators” (score checkers).  Pushers and tabulators need to check in at the registration table by 9:45 am.   All volunteers must wear black pants, shorts, or skirt, and a black shirt.  Please look professional.

STATE ORGANIZATION UPDATES MEETING:  Meet with an AMJRF representative to learn about the State Organization options through AMJRF.  Get information on the benefits of State Organizations, how to get started with a State Organization Liaison, and brainstorm ideas about how to grow the sport of jump rope. 

LUNCHES AND CONCESSIONS:  Lunch is on your own.  Subway and Dominos nearby and other local restaurants in town.   Lunches will be provided for judges and volunteers.

VENDORS:   We will have some ropes and jump rope apparel available for purchase. 


The Southern California Open events will use the World Jump Rope Judging Handbook and Competition Rule Book.

Gender Division

  • Male/female for individual events
  • Mixed for group events

If there are less than three competitors, the competition committee reserves the right to adjust the age or gender divisions.  Coaches will be notified at least two weeks prior to the competition start date if age or gender divisions are adjusted.


Awards at the Southern California Open are based on age and gender divisions.  All participants will be nationally ranked using the AMJRF National Ranking System.  


The WORKSHOP will begin at 10:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm.  The Workshop will be conducted by the Coronado Speed Spinners with special out of town guests.
